Sussex and Kent are very lush and green…not least because it rains from time to time (but actually not as much as you may think). If you come from Arizona or Mali, well, then it rains a great deal here. If you come from Chicago or Oslo then it might seem rather dry. Either way, we can’t guarantee good weather but fingers crossed it’ll be gloriously sunny and one of those special barmy days that somehow only England can truly manage. And if it’s raining we will be frightfully British and just get on with it!
There are lots of deer in beautiful Ashdown Forest, very often you’ll see them, and there are many squirrels, badgers, foxes, rabbits, and so on. There have even been sightings of an illegally-released wild black panther! There are also plenty of beautiful lakes, some that you can sail and kayak on, rocks that you can climb, and lots of forests and hiking trails to follow over flat-ish areas and soft rolling hills. There are many beautifully landscaped gardens in this area too – one, Wakehurst, is part of the famous Kew Gardens, the Queen’s Gardens. There’s so much more here of course, including a local wildlife centre, a petting farm, a llama park and many picturesque – if mainly pebbly – beaches framed by our world famous white chalk cliffs.
